Reasons for Transformer Gas Protection Operation

Reasons for Transformer Gas Protection Operation

Reasons for Transformer Gas Protection Operation

1. There is a slight fault in the transformer, producing weak gas;

2. Air intrudes into the transformer;

3. Lower oil level;

4. The secondary circuit is faulty (for example, the DC system is grounded at two points), causing misoperation.

After the gas protection signal appears, the operator should conduct external inspection of the transformer immediately. First, check the oil level and color in the oil pillow, whether there is gas, gas quantity and color in the gas relay, and then check whether there is oil leakage in the transformer body and forced oil circulation system. At the same time, check the transformer load, temperature and sound changes. After external inspection, when no abnormal phenomenon is found, the gas of the transformer should be absorbed to find out the nature of the gas, and the oil sample should be taken for testing when necessary, so as to jointly identify the nature of the fault.
